Global Entry Enrollment on Arrival: Interview at the Airport, No Appointment

If you're conditionally approved and have any international trip coming up, you may never need an interview appointment at all: Enrollment on Arrival lets you finish your Global Entry interview while clearing customs on the way home, at 60+ participating airports. As of August 2026, 20 of the 123 Global Entry enrollment centers we monitor list no open interviews at all, and another 7 have nothing within the next two months. EoA skips that queue entirely.

How it works

  1. Get conditionally approved (check your status at ttp.dhs.gov).
  2. Arrive in the US on an international flight at a participating airport — or preclear US customs at a participating airport abroad before boarding.
  3. Before joining the regular passport control line, follow the "Enrollment on Arrival" signs or tell a CBP officer you'd like to complete your Global Entry interview.
  4. The officer verifies your passport (and permanent resident card, if applicable), takes fingerprints and a photo, and — if approved — activates your membership on the spot.

Do I need an appointment for Enrollment on Arrival?

No. There is nothing to schedule — after you deplane from an international flight at a participating airport, follow the Enrollment on Arrival signage (or ask a CBP officer) before you reach the regular passport control line.

Can I do my Global Entry interview when I return to the US from a trip?

Yes — that is exactly what Enrollment on Arrival is for. You must already be conditionally approved and arriving on an international flight at a participating airport. It works on the return leg of any trip, including a trip you booked before applying.

What documents do I need for Enrollment on Arrival?

Bring the valid passport you used on your application (plus your permanent resident card if you are an LPR). Since you are crossing the border anyway, you will already have them. No printed conditional approval letter is required — your status is in CBP's system.

Can I use Enrollment on Arrival on a domestic flight?

No. Enrollment on Arrival only happens at CBP passport control, which you only pass through when arriving from abroad. If you have no international trip coming up, book an interview at any enrollment center instead — or set a free alert for a cancelled slot near you. CBP has also begun offering interviews on departure at a small number of airports.

Can children complete Enrollment on Arrival?

Yes. A conditionally approved minor traveling with a parent or legal guardian can complete the interview at the EoA checkpoint like any other applicant — the parent or guardian must be present to give consent.

How long does Enrollment on Arrival take?

Usually only a few extra minutes on top of normal passport control — the interview itself covers document checks, fingerprints, and a photo. Staffing varies by airport and time of day, so allow a little buffer on a tight connection.
